Support for the Common Man

Born in South Carolina and later made an orphan, Andrew Jackson was considered to be a common man. His ordinary background helped shape him into the representative of ordinary Americans that he is today. Jackson opposes the dominance of elites that run the federal government. He promises to bring power to the people through Popular Sovereignty because he believes the common man is necessary for the growth of the nation. Jackson believes in universal suffrage for white men of America. He also believes that the unfair tariffs on southern farmers should be reduced.
